The West Harris County Regional Water Authority has a pretty unique model.
They have a board of nine members and do not have any full-time staff or employees. Instead, they utilize a team of consultants to assist them with their work. In addition to the legal team, they have an engineering team, a bookkeeper, an auditor, a financial advisor, and many others.
That grouping of different functions and skills constantly requires coordination, communication, and working together.
One of the things I would say about the West is that we are tremendously blessed to have an extremely committed and engaged board that puts its heart, soul, and time into the success of the Authority.
Over the last couple of decades, we’ve also had a consultant team that has been able to work together, all rowing in the same direction toward achieving the same goals.
