At its June 10 meeting, the WHCRWA Board of Directors adopted a resolution honoring Wayne Ahrens for 25 years of service to the Authority. The resolution recognized his leadership as Program Manager and engineer, his role in the planning and construction of major infrastructure projects—including the $1.4 billion Surface Water Supply Project—and his consistent dedication, professionalism, and service above and beyond the call of duty. Ahrens will retire at the end of June 2026.

RESOLUTION COMMENDING WAYNE AHRENS FOR 25 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE WEST HARRIS COUNTY REGIONAL WATER AUTHORITY

WHEREAS, the West Harris County Regional Water Authority (the “Authority”) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas created to combat severe land subsidence caused by over-pumping groundwater, develop and execute on a reliable, long-term supply of surface water to replace groundwater, and ensure compliance with the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District’s groundwater reduction mandates; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Ahrens served as the Authority’s Program Manager and an integral part of the Authority’s engineering team from the Authority’s inception and continued to serve in that capacity for the last 25 years; and 

WHEREAS, Mr. Ahrens was instrumental in ensuring that the Authority’s infrastructure and capital projects were designed and constructed in accordance with the Authority’s high standards, including the Authority’s $1.4 Billion Dollar Surface Water Supply Project comprising 55 miles of large diameter water lines, two pump stations, and two meter stations; and 

WHEREAS, Mr. Ahrens, on numerous occasions, performed work above and beyond the call of duty, while exhibiting loyalty, dedication, and professionalism.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE AUTHORITY THAT:

Section 1.  The Board of Directors of the Authority hereby finds that Mr. Wayne Ahrens has made invaluable contributions to the Authority by acting as a superb Program Manager and Engineer, exhibiting a high degree of knowledge, dedication, and skill. 

Section 2. The Authority hereby adopts this Resolution to commend and express its great appreciation to Mr. Wayne Ahrens for his outstanding service to the Authority for 25 years and to congratulate him on his retirement at the end of June 2026.
