This board is just unbelievable.

I’m not on a lot of boards, of course, but everybody gets along very well.

The board was originally established to have individual professional capabilities from each board member.

When an engineering problem came up, we had engineers. When an accounting problem came up, we had an accountant. When a contractor problem came up, we had someone who was an expert in contracts. When a right-of-way problem came up, I was available as a real estate professional to help with that.

It has served us well not to be too nitpicky about consultants. You want to use the best consultants available for the situation. That’s always been my philosophy.

You want to pick the best people available who are experts because this is such a complex project.

At the time we were undertaking the Surface Water Supply Project, I think it was the largest civil engineering project of its kind in the United States. The Authority has received multiple awards for how it handled the project and how it was carried out, from both construction and engineering organizations.

It’s not finished yet, by the way. The water pipe has not yet been turned on.
