There’s been a lot of conversation about trying to address subsidence head-on.

Right now, the City of Katy is the fastest-subsiding area on this side of town, and that’s within the West Harris County Regional Water Authority.

There are a couple of directors—specifically Dennis Gorden—who made it a personal mission, since he’s from the Katy area, to do something to curb subsidence for his neighbors and the community where he lives.

If you look at what has happened in other regions that have more fully converted to surface water, subsidence has essentially stopped.

I would love to see that happen in Harris County. I think it will have a tremendous impact on the region that will be felt decades from now.

The fact that we’re also providing a reliable water supply for the community should support continued development throughout the region. It will help MUDs meet the needs of their constituents.

There’s a lot to be proud of in working with the West Harris County Regional Water Authority.
