A Look Inside the Kinder Morgan Segment 1

West Harris County Regional Water Authority

Representatives from the West Harris County Regional Water Authority (WHCRWA), Allen Boone Humphries Robinson LLP (ABHR), GFT, Project Surveillance, Tunnel Tex, and Halff recently toured Kinder Morgan Segment 1 (KM-1) of the Surface Water Supply Project. The visit included a firsthand look inside newly installed 84-inch and 66-inch water lines.

KM-1 includes approximately 4,400 feet of steel water transmission line and connects with the adjacent KM-2 project. Construction combines open-cut installation and tunneling to accommodate roadway crossings, existing utilities, and the active Kinder Morgan/NGPL pipeline corridor.

Jointly funded by WHCRWA and the North Fort Bend Water Authority, the Surface Water Supply Project will deliver treated surface water to communities in West Harris County and North Fort Bend County, helping reduce reliance on groundwater.
