Different Expertise, One Mission
The Authority’s Board of Directors brings together professionals from many different fields, each contributing unique knowledge and experience. Mike Thornhill explains how that diversity has helped the board ask the right questions and make informed decisions throughout the Surface Water Supply Project.

I’d say one of the biggest surprises when I got on the board was the actual makeup of the board.
I came on with an operator’s background, but on the board you had engineers—and they weren’t all the same kind of engineers. They each had different areas of expertise.
You had someone who ran his own business. You had people who were good in finance, others who specialized in pumps and motors, and others with real estate experience.
Each person brought their own knowledge. Depending on the questions that came up or what we were trying to accomplish, we had someone with experience in that area who could help make sure we were making the right decisions and asking the tough questions that needed to be answered.
